PACHECA SUPERIOR WHITE 2021 DOURO DOC
VITICULTURAL YEAR
The 2018 viticultural year was characterized by being extremely dry and hot. The evolution of climatic conditions contributed to earlier germination that occurred throughout the entire vegetative cycle. The harvest began on the 11th of August with the early varieties of white varieties such as Viosinho, followed by the remaining white varieties and later the red varieties with normality until the end of September.
VINEYARDS
This wine is obtained from grapes of the Viosinho and Moscatel Galego Branco varieties from several vineyards planted at an altitude of 140 meters.
VINIFICATION
After careful selection for their best condition, the grapes were harvested into 25 kg chests and sent to the viticultural center where they were lightly pressed in a pneumatic press. The resulting must was sent to stainless steel vats, inertized and cooled, where it remained for 24 hours to decant. At the end of this period, it was filtered and transferred to another stainless steel vat where it was inoculated with selected yeasts, having fermented at a controlled temperature of 14-16oC. After alcoholic fermentation, it aged in 2nd year French oak barrels with weekly bâtonnage for 6 months.
TASTING NOTES
Pacheca Superior White has a complex aroma, some notes of tropical fruit such as pineapple and passion fruit and hints of toast given by the barrel. In the mouth it is marked by exotic fruit wrapped in toasted wood notes that give it a rich body and a long, long finish. consistent finish.
BARREL AGING
6 months in 2nd year French oak barrels with weekly bâtonnage.
