Last June, Herdade da Rocha , located in Vila do Crato, launched Amphora Red and White wines. These new releases are the result of a winemaking process that honors the traditions of Alentejo, highlighted by the use of clay amphorae and the lack of temperature control during the grape fermentation stage.
Amphora Red has a bright garnet color, accompanied by aromatic notes of clay and ripe black fruits, in addition to being distinguished by its smoothness and freshness, providing an elegant and attractive combination on the palate. Its characteristics make Amphora Red the ideal choice for lovers of balanced red wines with a deep flavor.
On the other hand, White Amphora surprises with a striking minerality and harmonious concentration of white fruit, complemented by notes of clay. It is described as a complex wine with a unique character, fresh and irreverent. Ideal for those who value wines with distinct personalities.
The vinification of both wines respected the region's traditional oenological practices, in order to further highlight the essence of the Herdade's terroir. The production of wines using the clay amphorae method allows for more controlled micro-oxygenation, which results in wines with soft tannins and balanced acidity.
These launches reinforce the commitment to quality and tradition of the Alentejo producer, offering consumers wines that reflect the richness and diversity of its terroir.
