Quinta da Pacheca

Quinta da Pacheca

With about 75 hectares of its own vineyards planted in the middle of the World Heritage Site, classification awarded by UNESCO in 2001, Quinta da Pacheca has always focused on the production of quality Douro DOC and Porto wines and was one of the first in the region to bottle wines DOC under its own brand. It was in 1977 that the marketing of wines under the brands Quinta da Pacheca and Quinta de Vale Abraão began, vineyards still belonging to Quinta da Pacheca today, under the guidance of the pioneer D. Eduardo Mendia Freire de Serpa Pimentel, who in Portugal was a one of the first to produce single varietal white wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. The Serpa Pimentel family continues, even today, to be involved in the project with the fourth generation of the family.

A new cycle began in 2012, when the dynamic families of Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves, partners with a long and successful record in the international distribution of food and wine, took over the project. The focus was clear, reinforcing the quality of wines and reinvigorating wine tourism. With its unrivaled uniqueness, Quinta da Pacheca has become one of the most visited in the Douro Region and has been consecutively awarded with several awards both in wine tourism, an example of which is the prestigious distinction of the Best of Wine Tourism* in various modalities, such as the different awards that its famous wines have been awarded

The history of vineyards on this property dates back to the 16th century, when it was a set of vineyards belonging to the Convents of Salzedas and S. João de Tarouca, as mentioned in a document dated 1551.
